How Billie Eilish is Helping the Climate With Her Music

by Minseo Cha

Musician Billie Eilish is offering fans free tickets in exchange for promoting environmental awareness.

On November 8, Eilish introduced her partnership with Global Citizen to help fans get tickets, and also help the planet on Twitter. In her post, Eilish wrote, “Take action for a more sustainable world with Global Citizen and win tickets to see Billie on the ‘WHERE DO WE GO?’ world tour.” Eilish explained that she teamed up with Global Citizen to help her fans earn tickets, since she didn’t want them to buy tickets from scalpers, but understand they really want to come to the shows. She added, "If you go to globalcitizen.org/billie, you can learn more about environmental issues like plastic pollution, and global warming, and climate change, and we can tackle these challenges and create a more sustainable world.”

This isn’t the first time Eilish has spoken out about climate change. In a video released in September by Billie Eilish and Woody Harrelson, the two brought up attention to climate change by partnering with Greenpeace for a Climate Emergency PSA. Eilish claimed, “Our Earth is warming up and our oceans are rising. Extreme weather is wrecking millions of lives.”

Not only that, the musician has included a statement on climate activism along her vide for ‘All the Good Girls Go to Hell’, and recently announced that she is planning to make her 2020 tour more eco-friendly, encouraging fans to bring refillable water bottles.
